A clever person I met in HK thinks very differently about the future of China-US relations. Quite the opposite of how many think in NY.
1. China can’t afford a war over Taiwan. The country is under too much economic stress.
2. Hong Kong has a long future as the gateway to China. It can’t be replaced by Shenzhen etc.
3. Hong Kong offers a clean landscape for life sciences and food in a way that Mainland cannot. People don’t trust clinical trials from Mainland.
4. The debt crisis on real estate in China is a big deal and will drag the country for many years.
