It’s a rare time that those big thoughtful predictions for the future decade are overlapping with the release cycles of actual companies, researchers, and hackers.
E.g., “Agents will be a big deal” vs. OpenAI’s Operator ‘preview’ (which is just *live* to its highest tier customers)
Demos worth seeing: the ‘intended’ use demos, writing and deploying a webapp that would have been a pretty cutting edge web 2.0 startup in 2011,
E.g. “Chip crunch will ease/tighten” vs. Chinese researchers clone OpenAI with 1/10th the chips with DeepSeek (actually it’s a hedge fund’s research team that made it). The API is 97% cheaper than OpenAI, the code is open source.
Demos: cloning Perplexity, this deep dive-ish review by me, and by the way I spent a chunk of time setting up the locally build of Deepseek on my non-Nvidia machine (that failed) in an effort to get BrowserUse to work (will have to try that again later with some different setup for Flash_Attn libraries)
E.g. Crypto’s new Summer is merging with the AI momentum into some kind of Nexus 9
E.g. “MAHA” vs. “What happened to Vivek the Pharma Warrior already?”
