Building off Dave Lerner’s great post yesterday here is a simply awesome
idea (and simply simple) for Universities.
They already give alumni email addresses. Create an alumni about.me style
page.
Auto-create for all graduates. Just name and year. Then let people “claim”
it with their university alumni email address. No verification of anything
– just a link to the registrar’s “contact us to verify credentials” page.
The page however becomes a more professional, more credential-oriented home
on the web for the 99% of people who have nothing professional at all – and
if anything just a LinkedIn.
I mean, a self-respecting person is not putting their LinkedIn in their
email sig or resume are they?
