6/30: Seneca on Sharing Knowledge

Continuation of my series. Here the topic is Seneca inviting his student friend for a visit.

The main point this time is how to learn; i.e., practice matters:

// You must go to the scene of action, first, because men put more faith in their eyes than in their ears, and second, because the way is long if one follows precepts, but short and helpful, if one follows patterns. //
He adds that Plato learned more from the character of Socrates than his words.

So you need to go hang around great people. Don’t isolate yourself with books or youtubes.
