Big famous companies are often criticized for being too ambitious when they hit the rocks. I’ve been there.
Truly huge giants are often criticized for being too cautious – think Google looking so lame these days in the face of GPT.
Neither of these is terribly fair.
But much less often — smaller companies rarely make news for their lack of ambition. I have always thought Lyft was not running strategy that was bold enough, but it was competing well enough (and I have been loyal to them since the Terminal 5 JFK Muslim ban protest.)
But since covid they have been failing to compete – just way less liquidity and far higher prices in the US. Here is the NYT takedown.
