Seneca on philosophical seclusion (8/30)

Seneca prefers you stay cool. Don’t get too excited or invested in chance happenings — good ones especially, so you can then keep a lid on the bad ones.

If you focus on the world of ideas (“slave to philosophy”), you won’t be too badly exposed to the inevitable ups and downs.
