Some gloomy friends say war with China is inevitable. Thucydides trap, it’s called. Rising power makes incumbent power annoyed, and then a little thing becomes a big thing. That caused WW1 – some interlocking alliances to stabilize the ascendant Germany vs. peak Britain tripped a war.
Will it happen with China and the US? Here they argue yes, pretty much.
It’s quite amazing though that such a detailed piece on China completely excludes two facts:
– the world’s largest GPD by purchasing power parity is the EU.
– the world’s fourth and fastest growing is India.
Why are these articles focused simply on US vs. China? Not on EU vs anyone… or India’s role. And notice Japan there.
