Yelp: a chance to short the web

Yelp is doing awesome. Stock is up something like 5x from IPO. $5bn company.

They are classic in some ways — content creation engine powered by a
community you can’t just re-create. The Google Maps bots aren’t close in
quality, though they are good at many other convenient features.

Namely – the Google Maps bots are in front of you when you need this local
data. On your phone.

Which is where Yelp’s strength seems poorly suited. People aren’t creating
amazing community information on Yelp from mobile. Are they? Have I missed
this?

I rarely am on Yelp these days. Because I’m rarely on a PC.

Though with a $5bn stock value, they can afford to buy things. Like 4sq.
